Application Notes & Tips:
Intermix the factory dye colors in any ratio to make custom colors.
Use Solar-Lux Waterborne Dye Stain Base/Reducer to reduce the intensity of color and maintain the dyes working characteristics.
To develop an even rich tone, with proper penetration, apply 2 coats of ‘working strength’ dye.
To maintain working characteristics of the Dye & minimize grain raising
Do NOT Thin with Water.
|
To evaluate a ‘working strength’ dye tone:
If two ‘wet’ coats (when dry and a topcoat is applied) look too dark, add Waterborne Reducer to lighten color intensity.
Do not try to control color by piling on coats
or by removing dye of with wet or dry rag.
Why Bleach?
In some cases, the natural wood color needs
to be removed using a 2 part wood bleach especially to obtain some lighter wood tones or light, clean primary colors.
(Follow directions on the bleach.)
After bleaching and dye application, for best results, allow at least 8 -12 hours drying time prior to top-coating.
