Handmade lemon yellow shellac flake. A wax-containing flake made by traditional cottage methods rather than industrial press — closer to the form the classical finishing texts assume than any modern dewaxed grade.
Wax-containing means the natural lac wax has been left in, and these flakes hold more of it than button lac does. The wax is part of the structure, not an impurity. Finishers have always favored wax-containing shellacs for their build and the warmth of the cured film. The handmade flakes carry that quality with the character of cottage production — small batch, hand-broken, each flake a little different in size and shape.
The lemon-yellow tone reads warm but not red — a clean gold that sits naturally on most hardwoods and complements aged finishes without darkening them.
