Button Lac range — workbench composition

Button Lac

For most of shellac's working history, this was simply how shellac came: seedlac melted over a charcoal fire and pressed by hand into buttons. The heat pre-polymerizes the resin, and the natural wax stays in — a hard, warm, traditional film that French polishers and floor finishers have leaned on for centuries. Button lac is still made by hand, in steadily fewer places, by families who have done the work for generations. What we carry is pure and uncut, sourced direct. The color runs from a light golden amber to a deep reddish brown.
