Merit No. 102 Clear — Burn-In Sticks
Ships from Waynesboro, Virginia.
Merit No. 102 Clear · clear burn-in sticks · half dozen or dozen
No. 102 is the clear stick — it adds fill, not color. When the surface around a chip already reads right, a clear fill keeps it that way: the void disappears and the tone stays exactly where it was.
How it's sold
- Half Dozen (6 sticks)
- Dozen (12 sticks)
Full-size Merit sticks. hand poured from the original shellac-and-rosin formulas, each stick embossed with its color number.
What a burn-in stick does
A burn-in stick fills chips, gouges, and worn edges with hard resin that takes a finish like the wood around it. Melt a little off the stick with a heated knife, flow it into the damage, level it, and finish over it.
Working notes
A burn-in repair only disappears when the color is right, and clear is the stick for the repairs where it already is. Expect a little surface character — pour marks, the odd bubble. They melt exactly the same.
Working across a range? The Wood Tones Dozen covers the natural browns end to end, and No. 14 Amber is the translucent warm side of the pair.
