Kusmi golden seedlac. The raw form of the finest shellac there is. Kusmi comes from the Kusum tree — the winter-harvest crop, naturally lighter in color and longer in life than any other variety. It is the lac that the premium button and dewaxed grades are built from. Here it is in its closest-to-source form: granules that have been screened and washed clean of sand, dust, and wood, but not yet melted into button or stretched into flake.
Seedlac is where the refiner begins. Working it yourself is part of the craft — you dissolve it, filter it through cloth, and prepare the cut to your own standard. Nothing about the shellac has been reduced or simplified for you. What you pour is what came off the tree, washed and screened, and nothing else.
Because it starts from Kusum lac, the golden color carries a warmth and clarity that lesser seedlacs cannot reach. For finishers who want to build their own working lac from the best raw material available.
Sourced direct from a fifth-generation refining family in India who has supplied this bench since 1990. Pure, uncut, genuine.
