Jethwa dark button lac. The deeper end of the button-form spectrum — a cottage-produced, wax-containing shellac that runs darker and richer than the Kusmi or Bysakhi grades.

This run is 100% from the 2026 Jeth harvest — a single harvest, pressed in a single run of buttons for this bench. When it sells through, it's gone until the next crop.

Most commercial shellac sold today is dewaxed flake — a 20th-century industrial product. Button lac is the older form, the one classical finishing texts describe. The wax is part of the structure, not an impurity to be removed.

Jethwa is for the work where you want shellac to add color, not just clarity — antique restoration, walnut and dark hardwoods, finishes where the depth is part of the point.

Mixing notes: see the pound cut chart for dry weight per gallon, quart, and pint at the common working cuts.
