The finest button lac we carry. Super Golden is a top Aloke grade — built from superior, hard-to-source Kusmi sticklac, sieved to a fine 8-mesh that screens out the larger, dyier, dirtier granules, then triple-washed and drawn from the fresh current-season crop. Every one of those steps lifts color and lifts purity, and every one costs yield. The result is the lightest, cleanest, most uniform golden button on the bench.

This is the grade for the work where the shellac itself is part of what you see — fine furniture, instrument tops and bodies, the pale heirloom finish where you want warmth and clarity and nothing muddying it. It sits at or above our Kusmi #1 for purity, with the even golden tone that gives the variety its name.

Button lac is the historically authentic form of shellac — the one classical finishing texts were written around. It is partially dewaxed in the traditional way, squeezed warm through cloth bags, which leaves roughly two to three percent of the natural wax in the structure. The buttons are produced in small cottage operations, weighed and packed one bag at a time. Genuine Kusmi sticklac of this quality is harvested in small winter volumes and does not come around often.
