Kusmi Delux Super button lac. A Kusmi-harvest button in a thinner button form than the standard grades — quicker to dissolve, with the same wax-containing structure and the same warm tonal family.
Most commercial shellac sold today is dewaxed flake — a 20th-century industrial product. Button lac is the older form, the one classical finishing texts describe. The wax is part of the structure, not an impurity to be removed. The buttons are still produced by hand in small operations, weighed and packed one bag at a time.
The thinner button is the reason to reach for this grade: it goes into solution faster than a standard button, which suits the finisher who cuts fresh shellac often and would rather not wait. The finished film sits in the same warm-amber family as the rest of the Kusmi button line.
Sourced direct from a fifth-generation refining family in India who has supplied this bench since 1990. Pure, uncut, genuine.
